Life with my grandpa is long gone. But I remember the things he taught me to do
Have respect for your elders, believe
there is a God, and be proud of the red, white, and blue.
And at Christmas he spoke words of wisdom.
He'd tell us don't forget our soldiers when we pray.
They're the reason we stand up and listen.
When the Star Spangled Banner is played.
And there were flags on his Christmas tree.
Hung there in memory of soldiers we lost in the fight.
And for all those so far away, missing home on Christmas day,
He'd sing them ‹Silent Night‹, and in they're
memory, he'd hang flags on his Christmas tree.
Well I never had to fight for my country, like my grandpa so bravely did.
But I respect the things that he taught me, and I'll pass them on to my kids.
Now these flags on my Christmas tree.
Hang there in memory of soldiers we lost in the fight.
And for all those so far away, missing home on Christmas day.
I'll sing them Silent night, and in they're memory, I'll hang flags on my Christmas tree.
Yeah remember the soldiers who fight for you & me, & hang flags on your Christmas tree.
